Chapter Six

Two simple lines have changed my life. Positive is supposed to be good right? So why do I feel so scared. Of course I'm happy but I haven't planed this. I don't even know if Salem wants kids now. I slowly lift my shirt and stair at my belly and I see what wasn't there a month before, a small belly. I've never been fat, ever since I was a kid I was always stick skinny. How could I not have noticed that. How am I going to tell Salem, what if he leaves me. I count to ten, take a deep breath in and tell myself it will all be ok. I walk out of the bathroom to find Salem sitting on the couch with his arm slung over the back and his feet on the coffee table. When he calls me over to sit with him I do but the second I sit I break out into tears.
"Malibu what's wrong!? Are you hurt?"
I shake my head and wipe my eyes. When I look up into his eyes I decide that now is when I have to do it. I curl up in a ball with my head on his shoulder and whisper into his ear.
"I'm pregnant."
He looks me in the eyes and smiles. And I smile back.
"Are you ok, I mean do you want it."
And very quickly I nod, not realizing how much I already can't stand loosing it.
"Well then babe we will just have to start a family earlier."
"What about the wedding? I mean should we move it earlier?"
He looks it over in his head before nodding. He moves his hand so gracefully onto my belly and rubs it back and forth.
"Hello in there, I'm your daddy. And your inside your mommies tummy."
I look down at my stomach and laugh.
"Holly shit Salem I'm going to have a baby."
"Correction we are going to have a baby."
We spend the rest of our afternoon call all our wedding venues to see who can set the closest date. It turns out that only one venu can, the chesterfield stables. It's this charming little farm near Salem's parents place that will fit all our guests. Now all we have to do is send the invitations. I simply can't wait.

The jelly they put on my belly is cold as ice. This whole operation seems very bizarre, when he presses the little remote thing to my belly I jump when I hear a thump.
"Don't worry darling, that's just your heartbeat."
I give him a nervous smile and he continues on searching the inside of my body for a micro sim. So far it looks all the same, a little black here a shape there until all of a sudden, bam. You can clearly see the shape of a body. It's small however very definite. I giggle.
"So Ms.Denim that is your baby! Would you like to know the gender?"
Me and Salem nodd in agreement. He then turns back to the screen to investigate.
"Looks like it's a boy!!!"
A huge grin spreads across my face as I picture my son playing catch with his father and learning to shave. A bouncing baby boy has always been my life long dream.  Oh and how I crave this unplanned child.
As we wait for our baby picture I watch Salem as he goes on and on about how excited he is. I can't believe I'm finally going to be a mother. A few years ago when all my old high school friends where getting married and having kids, I remember how sad I used to get whenever someone else told me they where engaged or pregnant. I used to think I would never start a family and have a normal life. But now I am half way there.

We stand in our little closet of the nursery trying to figure out how to make everything fit.
"Well if we put the crib in the corner then put the high chair beside it we can make the rest fit."
I nod with him as he points to the blueprint in his mind. The little room is going to be painted baby blue to match the crib. I wanted to put a little chalk board against  the wall but Salem refuses for no apparent reason. "The painters called they said they can come Monday to paint his room." I tell him.
"But  babe we get married Monday! We can't just let them in."
"We have no other choice our other option is to bring the baby home to a bear room."
"What are you talking about the baby's not due for another few months."
"Ya but the painters are booked up."
He gives me an exhausted look.
"We could just paint it ourselves."

Paint brushes in our hand we start our work, carefully painting every surface of the wall. That was until Salem flicked paint at me, so naturally I flicked some back. So on and so on until we end up kissing in the middle of the room, covered in paint. When we we're done the room was a beautiful splatter of blue paint so we figured why not just leave it like this.

I sit in my dressing room with my grandmother in a wedding gowned. In just a few short minutes I will be walking down the aisle with her at my side and him at the end. We sit looking at each other, holding each other's hands until she begins to cry.
"Oh my baby Malibu, I'm so sorry this happend to you."
"Grandma what do you mean this is the happiest day of my life."
"Yes but your father should be there, walking you down the aisle. Your mother should be sitting in the front row crying her eyes out like she always did. Oh and your brother should be making jokes and strait up embarrassing you."
"I love them so very much, but I don't need them now. Grandma I have Salem and I have my new baby boy. I'm pregnant and I'm the happiest I've ever been." She nods and stands up escorting me to the grand hall where it's all about to go down. I stand infront of big oak doors in my Mermaid style wedding dress with my baby bump and flowers ready to go. The doors slowly open.

Chapter Five

The Sunshines through the window and onto my ring, it reflects onto the walls making shapes of sunlight that are quite distracting. I sit at my desk drawing plans for one of my clients houses. It's a big beautiful thing with big oak beams across the ceiling. So far buissness as been slow, only one couple wants me to renovate and a restaurant wants a new dinning room built onto it. So life is good. I've gained a few pounds in the last few months living with him, his food is so delicious and he makes so much, but frankly I think it's good for me. I look healthier too, no more bags under my eyes, my hair feels soft and happy to be alive.
In a few days Salem and I are taking a trip up north to  Sea Foam Lake. It's where he grew up, and where his parents live. We're going  to tell them the big news. I simply can't wait to meet them.  Salem seems to hate his parents, he rarely talks about them and when he does it's always just a childhood memory. I've never seen him contact them in the months we've been together. However he and his brother, Jade, are pretty close. I've met him once before when he came over to our house for lunch. He and his girlfriend travel the world, they make their living emptying out tombs. They had a sister Clover but she died in a fire when she was nine. He also very rarely talks about her.
Every minute Salem and I have together we use to plan. We want to have our wedding in the fall so we don't have much time. The leaves have just started to turn colors. Our weddings going to be big, Salem's family is huge and he has to invite everyone. My family is smaller with only my one aunt and uncle and their kids, plus my grandmother. We talked about the wedding and who will walk me down the aisle. Salem offered his father but that seems strange, I think my grandmother will since we're close but we might have a problem since she doesn't speak English.
We now sit in our little living room which is covered with wedding things. Planning our trip this weekend.
"So is there anything you wanna see?" He tilts his head questioning his own question.
"Salem I don't think there is anything to see, I meant lets go to the lake and spend time with your parents."
"But are you sure you wanna stay at their place?" He scoots beside me on the couch and leans in close. "I mean we could get a room. " When he kisses me I feel the magic, I don't think this feeling will ever get old. Even at his touch I still get nervous, in a good way. When we pull apart I smile.
"As wonderfull as that sounds, I have to meet them."  With a sigh he leans to give me peck on the cheek and goes to start dinner.

I wake up with a swore back in Salem's car. I takes me a minute to remember where we're going before I see the sign. ' Welcome to Sea Foam Lake population 580 ' The little town is sweet, it's got all of one street with about 10 stores. One of which is labeled  Berrylooth's general store.
"Hey I didn't know your family owned a store."
"Ya we have for generations, my parents run it now but I used to run it after school when I was little. It makes quite a big profit actually."
He smiles proud of his old life. I don't get why he has such a problem with his parents, they had what looks like a great life together. Just a little bit down the road we turn a huge left down a hill, at the bottom is a cluster of mail boxes.
"What's that?" I ask pointing to the mail boxes.
"The mail man's to lazy to drive to each house so the entire road puts all our mail boxes here."
Further down the road we pull into a long pebbled driveway. When I see the house my jaw drops, it's a massive property for a massive house. The house is entirely brown and has so many widows it's impossible to count. Standing infront of the house are two almost elderly sims, their skin green like their sons. They smile and wave as we park and get out.
"Oh there's my little Sally." Shouts his mother. I nearly fall to the ground I laugh so hard.
"Don't you ever call me Sally." He tells me as his mother hugs him and kisses him on the cheek. I nod still laughing.
"And this must be Malarie, I'm Pea."
"Dad her name's Malibu, I've told you a hundred times."  I give him a disapproving look.
"You can call me Mal, I'm so glad to finally meet you."
"You know we've never met any girlfriend's of Sally's" His mother says while patting his cheek. "My names Emerald but you can call Em. Come, come inside I made dinner, I hope you like clam chowder."

I can clearly see where Salem learned to cook. Em's food tastes like it came form a five star restaurant.
"Wow this food's amazing, thank you so much."
"Well we hope so it's such a great suprise to see the both of you. I was so surprised you actually even showed up." His father nodded to every word his mother said.
"Well Mom, Dad there is actually a reason we came out here." He looks me in the eyes and grabs my hand under the table. Together we sit up and look at the both of them. "We're Engaged!"  At the second he says it his mother leaps up from the table squealing and jump around to our side of the table, giving us kisses and hugs for a good five minutes.
"Oh that's such great news, I was thinking it was never going to happen. Oh when's the wedding." His mother says giddy with excitement.
"Some time at the end of the fall." I say.
"So when do we get to meat your family Mal, I assume they know."
And the room goes quite, his father looks at Salem for an explanation. And that's when the shouting begins.
"What the hell is that type of question are you trying to make her feel bad I mean seriously what's your problem you dick."
His fathers face turns read with anger as he prepares to shout. But I start talking before he can.
" Salem don't you ever talk to your father like that." His parents are still confused so I try to explain.
"My family died in a fire, I mean I would have too but I was lucky enough to be late for dinner. That's how me and Salem met, he was one of the firefighters on scene. I'm sorry he's just really protective about that." When his parents hear my story their faces drop. His mother immediately gives me one of her big hugs and I start crying.
We spent the rest of the night playing board games and getting to know each other with only a few dramatic situations. Before going to bed his mother made us a cup of calming tea.

When I woke up the next morning I ran straight to the toilet to throw up. And that's pretty much where I stayed the rest of the morning though for the rest of the day I felt fine, only a cramps stomach. I change into my bathingsuit to go swimming in the lake and I cach a glimps of myself in the mirror. I'm a thin woman and I always have been but for some reason my belly seems to have a bit more fat on it as usual. I remind myself to cut down on my calories and carry on with my day.

For the next week I'm very sick, I'm almost always throwing up and my stomach is always so swore. I realize as I'm getting dressed one day that my bra is really tight and I can get it on properly. And I do the calculations in my head. Could it be? Within minutes I'm in a cab on my way to the store.

'Pee onto stick then set on a flat surface for 2-3 minutes.' I read the instructions on the box over and over again trying to make sens of what I'm about to do. It can't be can it? I squat over the toilet and pee, then I set it on the bathroom counter and set the timer. When the alarm goes off I pick it up looking at the little circle that will deside my fait. I can't quite make out what it says...
